Diego Melgar + The Third Ear

The Third Ear is Miami's rogue music school. Anyone is allowed to apply. There are no teachers, we learn from one another in rehearsals. A Third Ear performance throws both the audience and performers into the deep end of sonic explorations. By using a conductor to lead improvisations, we allow for maximum individual expression within a cohesive narrative. The nature of this group morphs based on the space we inhabit, being able to do chill ambient sets at libraries or chaotic avant garde spectacles at rock venues. With a newly built home studio, the group is also available to record and do film scoring.

Third Ear is led by founder Diego Melgar, a musician based in Miami who performs a uniquely wide range of styles, including baptist gospel music, avant garde jazz, latin pop, symphonic, and electronic music. Diego has performed at the III Points Music Festival, International Noise Conference, MLB All-Star Gala, New World Center, Adrienne Arsht Center, North Beach Bandshell, Perez Art Museum and countless other venues here in Miami. Currently, he organize a concert series at Floyd Miami featuring new compositions with a rotating cast of local musicians.
